Ideas for organising your shoe collection

How do you organise your shoe collection? Do you use racks or boxes or hanging dividers? Or are they just randomly strewn at the bottom of your wardrobe? Maybe it's a combination of all of these methods! There are heaps of great shoe organising solutions out there, and today I'm sharing some storage options that we use to organise our shoe collection inside our wardrobe.

Shoes I wear most frequently are kept in the box on the bottom of our console, so they are easy to grab-and-go. My husband stores all of his shoes in our wardrobe, as the console shoe-box is really only big enough for the kids' and my shoes. I store boots, heels, and some flats in the wardrobe. I must admit, I wear 80% of my shoes only 20% of the time, so I could do some culling, but I have the space to store them so no need just yet!

Hanging shoe organisers are a fantastic option if you're short on wardrobe space. They simply hang on a rail or a piece of dowel. Ours is the 9-shelf organiser from Bunnings, but they also come in 6 shelf or 5 jumbo shelf options.

I find these organisers are really best for flat shoes, as they can be stacked one on top of the other. I wouldn't want to store my heels in there as they may get a bit squished.

The next spot for our wardrobe shoe storage is on this 3-tiered expandable rack, also from Bunnings. It fits about 4 pairs of hubby's shoes across each row, and my heels on the bottom. I like this shoe-rack because it can be adjusted to fit your wardrobe space.

Lastly, my boots sit under my hanging-pants rail. I've popped a rolled-up magazine inside each boot so it stays upright and won't get bent or wrecked. My runners are kept inside my 'workout box' in the laundry, which I'll share in an upcoming post.

If you're short on space, another good option is over the door shoe organisers - I do love utilising the backs of doors! These are great if you have doors that swing open (as opposed to sliding) or you don't have a lot of floor space for a shoe rack.
