Taking on a DIY project or entire room makeover can often be a daunting process when you start adding up the cost of all the different things you'd like to include. However, a makeover doesn't have to cost a fortune, and with the right planning, and repurposing, rearranging, repainting and using clever storage solutions, you can breathe whole new life into a space. Here's how we achieved it with our son's bedroom makeover...
Have you ever renovated your home? Or taken on a massive DIY project? If the answer is yes to either or both of these questions, then I'm sure you could relate to the mixed feelings we currently find ourselves experiencing with our home renovation. We've come to realize that such a massive project really is a roller-coaster of emotions that really impacts on your daily life - both in negative and positive ways. Although everyone warns you that it's going to be a crazy process, until you’re actually living through it, it’s hard to know just what it will be like for you personally.
When life is chaotic and you're going through a particularly busy time, one area that can really suffer is the state of your car. Our cars can often become like a 'second home', but you get to be a bit less rigid about trying to keep it immaculate. This means things get thrown in, mess accumulates quickly and it starts to become a dumping zone that you promise yourself you'll 'get to later'. Can you relate? It's definitely what's been happening with us these last few months! Living through a home renovation has meant our family car has become a lot more disorganised (#revolting) than usual, so today I'm showing how I took back control of the family car... and how you easily can too!
Would you call yourself a DIYer? Are you someone who likes to do home projects yourself to save money, or do you prefer to call in the experts? If you've been keeping up to date with our current home renovation, you would know that we are very much the former - mad DIYers. We are currently smack bang in the middle of some serious painting work on the exterior of our new abode. Over the last 9 years, we have painted both the entire interior and exterior of our house. And now we're changing it all up and doing it again! #crazy.
Completing the painting yourself, especially during a renovation when it feels like your money is flying out the door, really is a massive cost saver. When we compared some of the quotes upwards of $20,000 just for the exterior painting to the cost of some new brushes, rollers and cans of paint, it was completely worth the effort to do it ourselves.
