DIY wine glass tags
We had our Christmas party on Saturday night, and it was such a fun night, with lots of kids running around the backyard, and good times with an amazing group of friends that I've known for 20 years! In the lead-up to the party, I brainstormed ways to make the night run as smoothly as possible, and one thing I wanted to try was making wine glass tags for the guests. Here's what I came up with...
In the lead-up to the party, I made a list of all the things we could do to make the night easier, so that as hosts we could still kick back and enjoy ourselves. This included using paper plates and bowls, getting everyone to bring a plate, cooking up a simple BBQ, encouraging everyone to help themselves, washing up platters and cutlery straight after dinner, and trying to collect bottles and cans throughout the night. With all these things in place, it actually didn't take us too long to clean up at the end of the party!
One thing that I thought might make the night easier were wine glass tags so guests could identify their drinking glass easily, hold onto the same glass throughout the night, and also so I could avoid too much cleaning up! I found some cute ideas on Pinterest (pictured below), but really just wanted something quick and easy to whip up - especially seeing as this brilliant idea only crossed my mind on the day before the party!
I eventually found this simple but effective idea on How About Orange, which was a downloadable template for wine glass tags which could be wrapped around glass stems using slits to secure them.
I printed the labels onto white card-stock, which I then covered in washi tape (what else!) in some party colours.
I could still see the label outline through the tape so they were easy to cut out.
I then labelled each tag with the names of the guests. I just went with the ladies as I assumed men would be drinking beer, but did leave some blank in case the lads felt like a champers!
I popped them into a bowl next to the glasses, so it was easy for people to find their name-tag and attach it to their glass.
It was an easy project that saved me some washing up... although I think by the end of the night, people didn't really care whose glasses was whose! Haha.
