DAY 5: CLEAR THE CLUTTER!

As someone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen, I want this space to be one where I feel happy, comfortable, calm and energetic.

Whether it's taking care of the less exciting jobs such as putting away groceries, unpacking the dishwasher, planning meals... or doing the more enjoyable things, like baking cookies with my kids, hearing my son read as I prepare our family meals, or having weekend crepes for breakfast at the island bench! Whatever the task, I want to feel at ease and content in the space that I'm in.

And I want that for you too! You spend so much time in your kitchen each and every day that it is absolutely imperative that you enjoy being in it, and you are in control of how it looks and feels.

In your final challenge, you're going to do an honest assessment of your kitchen countertops and work out what really belongs there, and how you could create a more organised home by making this a clutter-free zone!

You need to make it a PRIORITY to clear your kitchen countertops at the end of each day and put everything back in place. So you can start each day afresh, with your best foot forward. Today you'll be looking at:

  • Which kitchen items you currently have out on your benchtops
  • Which items actually need to be out -- because it's saving you time/effort/energy to have them there
  • What could possibly be stored elsewhere -- in cabinets or drawers, or another zone of your home
  • Whether you need to create other organised areas in your home to clear the clutter i.e. entryway, command centre
