Declutter Challenge - The Organised You

DAY 6:

On our final day of the Simple Declutter Challenge, I want to share the 'after' photos of my linen closet decluttering project with you. But first, a quick look at the labels I created, in order to maintain the organisation that I had just created!

Pictured below are the previous labels from our linen closet, which have worked well for the last 4 years. I bought these pre-made labels from Spotlight (a craft and fabric store in Australia). I then typed and printed the label names and stuck them on.

This time around, I wanted things the new-look linen closet to look more simple and streamlined. I created a few post-it note lists of which labels I needed and what size they needed to be.

I then cut out some plain cardboard which I covered in washi tape (a brilliant product which is like colourful sticky-tape), typed up some labels and stuck them on. These were then attached to tubs or boxes with double-sided tape. Easy! I didn't bother creating labels the wire baskets as it's quite clear what belongs in there.

So, without further adieu, here are the final before and after pictures of our decluttered linen closet:

Final side-by-side comparison! Items are much easier to access, everything can be found quickly and efficiently, and there is far less clutter. Woop!

When I’d finished this entire project, I did a quick tour of the new space to my husband, showing him where everything belonged, the new storage solutions for our shopping bags, gardening clothes and towels in the wire baskets (the things he would reach for the most), and how I wanted everything to be maintained. I worked hard on this space and I want it to stay that way.

So, what kind of labels will you create? How will you finish this process off properly? How will you encourage your family to keep your newly decluttered space organised? Let us know in the Home Balance group how you go, and feel free to share some before and afters - we'd all love to celebrate your journey with you!

Just in case you don’t want the decluttering challenge to end, you can continue your work, improve your skills, and learn how to apply your decluttering skills to your entire home.

Chaos to Calm teaches you how to feel more empowered about running your own life as a mother, wife, and adult. It gives you the tools to take back control of your own life, rather than letting the chaos of life control you.

I created the Chaos to Calm program to help busy women just like you to ditch the overwhelm and learn how to live with less by decluttering to save time, effort and energy in their lives.

To show my appreciation for you sticking with us through this challenge, I am giving you a special 20% discount to join the program! This special bonus runs out on February 13th, so now is the time to jump in!

If you have any questions about the program, feel free to email me at jo@theorganisedyou.com. I hope to see you on the inside!
